Successful first international Identity Management Forum for Beta Systems in Brussels

Berlin / Brussels, 22 March 2010 – Beta Systems Software AG announced today that it held its first Identity Management Forum in Belgium on 18 and 19 March in the Hotel Metropol in Brussels. The event enabled customers and other interested parties to meet Beta Systems’ team of Identity Access Management (IAM) specialists. Participants included financial services, consulting, and manufacturing companies from UK, the Netherlands, Finland, Serbia and Slovakia as well as from Belgium. The forum’s main focus was to present the new generation of Beta Systems’ IAM solution, SAM Enterprise Identity Manager, for automating the administration of user access rights. The financial services provider BNP Paribas Fortis demonstrated how it uses the solution and the value it brings to the company. Jan De Blauwe, Head of Information Security and Risk Management, BNP Paribas Fortis, explains: “In 2009 we implemented Beta Systems’ Identity Access Management solution for automated user management to help us ensure data security, regulatory compliance, and – especially – to reduce our costs. Working towards achieving this, we were happy to accept the invitation to present our project at the Identity Management Forum. From our perspective, the event was a great success.”

The Identity Management Forum was the first Beta Systems event for Tuula Vaaranen, System Designer at the leading shipbuilding firm STX Finland Oy that recently signed a five-year software and service agreement with Beta Systems for their SAM identity access management solution. “The solutions are easy to integrate into our environment and easy to use. The IdM forum was a great opportunity for me to meet Beta Systems’ SAM specialists as well as network with other users and hear how they use SAM”, she says.

The forum also featured specialized presentations on the IAM solution’s individual functions, such as password management, role life cycle management, and integrated business workflows. The speakers emphasized the benefits an IAM solution can deliver in the current climate of increasing cost pressures, security requirements and compliance regulations. They also highlighted the importance of investment protection for the execution of the project itself.

Commenting on the event, Harald Podzuweit, General Manager of the DCI and IdM Business Lines at Beta Systems Software AG, said: “We were happy to be able to welcome participants from across Europe to our first Identity Management Forum in Brussels. This underlines the topicality of the issue on an international level as well as its growing importance. The misuse of access rights, compliance with regulatory requirements, and cost control affect all countries and organizations in equal measure.”
